Duncan High School student-athlete Tristin Blackburn is making her senior year one to be remembered and admired. She is an active student and athlete playing softball as a first basemen and team captain, boys basketball manager, student council historian, senior class reporter, SADD representative, National Honor Society member, and finally a member of the Jolly Jill’s social club.
Tristin is aware that her peers are watching and looking to emulate her and her actions.
“It is a huge accomplishment to know that my hard work and effort has paid off and that people see that when you give all your heart to something you can accomplish anything,” Trisitn said.
Not only is Tristin a standout to the students around her, but to the coaches and adults as well.
“Tristin is one of the most responsible student-athletes at Duncan High School. She gives her all for her softball team, leading them on and off the field. Within the boys basketball program, she has so much responsibility behind the scenes. Never seeking credit, she gets everything ready for games, keeps the basketball supplies and uniforms organized,” said Coach David McGuire.
Being a person with good character and someone that others look up to means that she has some great role models and inspiration in her life and she knows who to look toward when she needs some motivation.
“I look up to my older siblings,” said Tristin. “I have watched them work very hard and accomplish many things and all while having a kind heart.”
When times get tough for this Duncan native, she knows exactly how to stay motivated.
“I stay motivated by reminding myself that even when you think no one is watching someone always is, so always work your hardest,” said Tristin.
After high school Tristin plans to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University and major in biology.
