Parents invest a lot of time and effort for their children to be involved in various extracurricular activities. And while these activities can be beneficial to the student, Lacy Ramirez says that it is important for kids to know how to set priorities.

“The toughest part about being a high school parent is trying to teach your kids how to balance life whether that be school, sports, friends, or life,” Lacy said. “I feel like sometimes kids get overloaded, but they have to find a way to make it work.”

Lacy has two sons that attend Duncan Public Schools. Eli is a junior and Jayce is a sophomore. Both boys wrestle and play baseball.

Throughout their lives, Ramirez has supported her kids by being there for them at their events.
“As their mother, how I stay involved in their athletic careers is just being involved,” she said. “The boys started playing at such a young age that has just been a part of our life. This is the only way I know. I am involved in the booster clubs that we have. From attending meetings to setting up hospitality rooms.”

Lacy has been a hairdresser for twenty-four years. In her freetime, she enjoys watching her kids play sports, shopping, spending time with family, and going to estate sales.

The community of Duncan has been great for Ramirez and her family and she is thankful to raise her kids in such a good place.

“There is not just one thing that I like about our school or community,” she stated. “But if I had to pick one it would be the support that we have. At any point the administration, teachers, coaches, and others are there for our students. We have the best community support. Whether it be to rally around someone in need or to cheer on our students you can always count on our community.”
