Comfortable on the golf course or hanging out with her FFA chapter members, Megan Bumpas wears many hats as an officer in the Duncan High School FFA chapter.
It was her freshman year when she first got involved in FFA thanks to some encouragement from a family member.
“My dad was the one who encouraged me to be involved in FFA because he did it in high school and enjoyed it,” said Bumpas.
From that day forward, Bumpas has made the most of every opportunity the FFA has offered.
“The thing I enjoy most about being in FFA is the atmosphere FFA members set. It is so enjoyable and fun to be around. If you know any FFA members, they will most likely say it’s extremely stressful and hard at first, but the more you do in FFA, the more memorable and enjoyable it becomes,” said Bumpas.
Bumpas serves as the 2022-23 Sentinel for the officer’s team, but that is not the only activity she is involved in at school or in FFA.
“I sell Blue & Gold, I help with the annual Plant Sale, any rodeo concessions we work, and the Animal Science Quiz Bowl Team. I am currently thinking about writing a speech next year and competing with it. Besides FFA, I’m also involved in band, color guard, golf, and Oklahoma Honor Society,” said Bumpas.
Bumpas offers this advice to anyone interested in FFA.
“Always take a risk and try new things. FFA is a place to get out of your comfort zone and to try new things. FFA is full of new, life changing experiences,” said Bumpas.
