A graduate of Duncan High School, Carson Kinnaird is now a sophomore at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, and he is a member of the baseball team.
Carson is a catcher for the Pioneers, and he is studying business administration. Making the transition from high school to college was challenging, but Carson made the most of the situation.
“The transition was definitely different,” said Carson. “College is much different from high school, obviously. Just living on your own and having to balance school and athletics is definitely challenging but very fun and enjoyable.”
Athletically speaking, Carson has adjusted to the speed of the game and is looking forward to helping his team to more wins this season.
“The biggest challenge going from high school to college is just the adjustment to the speed of the game. At the college level everyone is good, and the game is played a lot faster,” Carson said.
Carson has enjoyed his time as a student-athlete at WOSC and he is looking forward to seeing what the future holds as student-athlete.
“The teachers here are amazing,” said Carson. “WOSC is a great school, and spending time with my teammates, some of my best memories are with them.”
Away from the classroom and the diamond, Carson said he enjoys spending time with his teammates.
The Pioneers are led by head coach Kurt Russel who coached the Pioneers to their first National Championship in 2011. You can watch the Pioneers live this season by going to WOSC.edu/LiveBaseball for the livestream broadcast of the game.
