“Kyndle is our primary ball handler, and she does all the little things that do not show up in the stat sheet. She is the glue that holds our team together.” -Head Coach Brandon Kephart
VYPE: What does this team and your teammates mean to you?
Ledford: I’ve played basketball for 10 years and my dad is a coach so the importance of being a part of a team has been imbedded in me from a very young age. Teammates should always have each other’s backs and be someone you can rely on. I believe a vital factor in being a great team is having chemistry on and off the court. Creating bonds with your team and learning to trust each other is very important.
VYPE: When you hear coach Kephart has called you an unsung hero, what does that mean to you and how do you define that term?
Ledford: If I had to define unsung hero, I would define it as someone who does a lot of the dirty work but doesn’t receive a lot of the glory. Being the point guard, the ball is in my hands a lot and the pressure is always on me, this means that sometimes I don’t get to score a lot, but I get to put my teammates in positions where they can. It’s about the success of the team not the individual glory.
VYPE: What grade are you in and what are your plans after high school?
Ledford: I’m a senior this year. After I graduate, I plan on attending The University of Oklahoma and majoring in biology.
VYPE: Who is your biggest rival?
Ledford: Our biggest rival is probably Lawton MacArthur.
