Pinky Greeny is ready to hit the volleyball court as a junior at Duncan High School. Her roles as an outside hitter and defensive specialist are the result of countless extra hours in the gym and dedication to her sport. “I put a lot of work into the gym, whether I feel like it or not,” she shares. This attitude is a testament to her discipline and determination, qualities that set her apart from her peers.
Pinky feels truly blessed to be surrounded by uplifting people, her teammates, coaches, and, most importantly, her faith in Jesus. She appreciates her teammates for always encouraging her to do her best, even when challenges arise. This past year, their hard work and trust paid off when they won the El Reno tournament, a reminder that teamwork and unity are key to success. She is also particularly grateful for her Coach, Connor Kelly, for always giving her advice and encouragement. Above all, Pinky credits Jesus, sharing, “He is the perfect example of how we should live out our lives.”
When it comes to competition, teams that are arrogant are Pinky’s favorite to battle. She explains to me that it’s always satisfying to defeat a team that shows disrespect, especially when your own team is showing great sportsmanship. Her teammate, Makynna Skinner, helps prepare her for these games by demonstrating a powerful swing, which makes her hits hard to defend. Both competition and practice push Pinky to be ready for future challenging matches.
Outside of sports, Pinky is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, and National Honor Society, to name a few. All of these have provided her with discipline, a strong mindset, and a constant reminder to include the Lord in everything she does. She has also learned to prioritize her schoolwork through effective time management. Juggling activities and school studies with volleyball has been a huge part of Pinky’s success as an academic athlete.
Wearing her school colors fills Pinky with pride as she represents her community. She makes it her priority to always show positivity to other teams and to never say negative things toward players, fans, or coaches. Even when things get difficult, she remains positive and continues to set an example of what true charisma looks like. After high school, she plans on attending college. She is still debating whether she would like to continue her volleyball career at the next level. Pinky is a shining example of the kind of role model every community needs for the next generation.
