Fatima Caoile is a senior at Duncan High School. She participates in cross country, track, National Honor Society, and Health Occupations Students of America. Her favorite subject is science, because it’s a lot of fun, and her favorite teacher is Todd Ledford. Mr. Ledford is her favorite teacher because “he tries to make learning fun and never doubts his athletes,” Fatima says.
Her favorite part about cross country is the friends that she makes along the way, not only on her team, but also other participants in the cross country meets. Fatima started running track after being encouraged by a teacher. She gave it a try and loved it ever since. Her favorite memory with sports was staying at a hotel the night before a meet and staying up late to play games with her teammates. Her highest moment was placing 3rd in the 4×800 at the state track meet. Sports have taught Fatima that there’s a reason behind all of the hard work that you put into being an athlete.
Her sister has been her biggest role model and positive impact because “she’s my biggest supporter and is always there during the hard times. She’s someone I can look up to and count on. She’s a hardworking woman and always strives to be her best,” Fatima says. In her free time, she likes to hang out with friends, watch movies, and bake.
In the future, Fatima plans to attend college and work towards her goal of being a Pediatric RN. She says that her future goals are what keeps her moving forward. Fatima says “I want to be able to accomplish my goals and live the life I want.”
The advice that she would like to give to her fellow athletes is not to give up. “There are going to be moments where you start to doubt yourself and want to quit, but have that strong mindset to keep on going,” she says.
