Duncan’s Alex Robison – Band Spotlight – Presented by Taco Tico

It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to be successful in your life. It is not something that just happens, instead it is something that is worked for. Alex Robinson is a member of the Duncan High School band and he has a quote that he remembers to help him stay focused.

“My favorite quote is said by Albert Einstein, ‘Life is like riding a bicycle. In order to stay balanced you must keep moving’. Eight years in a band takes a lot of dedication and a lot of not giving up. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that nothing can stop you except yourself.”

Robison is a senior at Duncan. His love and curiosity for music made him decide to join the band. Along with band, he is also involved in the Health Occupations Students of America at Red River Technology Center. He is also in the worship band at First Baptist Church in Duncan.

Alex has had a number of people that have been impactful to his life and helped him along the way.

“The biggest influences on my life are my parents and my grandparents,” he said. “They raised me to be who I am today. Other than them one of my biggest role models is Matthew Henderson. He’s my youth pastor, and is one of the best people I know. Mr. Haas, my band director, has had the biggest impact on my life. I moved in the middle of my sophomore year, and he was the first teacher to welcome me with open arms. He has also helped me grow not only in music, but as a person.”

During his time in band, Alex has made a lot of memories and has some great moments. Out of all of them, he has one that stands out as his favorite.

“The highlight moment in my eight years of band was probably my junior year of high school,” he recalled. “We had a marching show named Under the Moonlight, and there was one football game that had a full moon, and we got to play under it. Probably one of the greatest performances I’ve ever done.”
