Duncan head coach Grant Oliver has been with the Demons for five seasons, but this is his first as head coach. One comforting factor will be the play of senior catcher Peyton Roberson.
“Peyton will be a leader for our team on and off the field. He is a four-year starter behind the plate for the Duncan Demons. He is committed to Hutchinson Community college to play baseball. He has been a staple in the Duncan lineup the past three years and looking to have his best season yet,” said coach Oliver.
We caught up with the senior just before the seasons first pitch.
VYPE: Peyton, how long have you played the game of baseball?
Roberson: I have been playing the game of baseball since I was four years old. I am currently a senior.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Duncan?
Roberson: My teammates mean the world to me. Without them I would not be the person or player I am today. They push me past my limit to succeed.
VYPE: What is the best thing about being a student-athlete at Duncan?
Roberson: Being a student-athlete at Duncan is a lot bigger of a privilege than it is at most schools. You are expected to succeed in the classroom and on the field consistently.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Roberson: In my free time I love spending time working out and hanging out with family and friends.
