From Good Times to Big Plans, Tamez is Focused on Her Future
Duncan High School senior Elvia Tamez has played soccer for three years with the Lady Demons and loves being part of the team.
“This is my second year playing goalkeeper,” said Tamez. “What I love most about my team is their enthusiasm and uplifting spirit. Even after a loss we keep our heads up and work hard to improve for the next one.”
Being a student-athlete at Duncan High School has been a special experience for Tamez.
“One of my favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duncan is the energy and bond of the teams I’ve played on. Everyone lifts each other up and wants the other to do the best they can,” said Tamez.
The senior said her family is important to her and her father has played a huge role in her life.
“My dad is a big influence in my life. He taught me that it is important to accomplish as much as you can with the time you have but also enjoy life while you’re at it,” said Tamez.
After high school, Tamez plans to attend college and work towards a degree in science.
“After I graduate, I will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall and I plan on majoring in microbiology,” said Tamez.
