Head coach Ryan Smith has called sophomore Mason Imel the unsung hero and underclassman to watch this season. We caught up with Mason just as the season was getting underway to learn more about this 6-foot-3 sophomore.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates?
Imel: I love the brotherhood that my team shares off the court. We all have each other’s backs. I also love going out to eat with the team and talking about the game of basketball.
VYPE: Coach calls you the unsung hero of your team. What does that mean to you and how do you define that term?
Imel: I think that being the unsung leader of the team means that I may not get as much hype as everyone else, but people still feed off of my energy and shooting. That means a lot to me.
VYPE: If your 30-year-old self showed up at school today to give you advice, what do you thinks you would tell yourself?
Imel: I think I would tell myself to keep working and be patient but also to have fun along the way.
