Some athletes begin playing sports when they hit middle school or high school. There are others that begin playing at a young age and grow up with the sport. Kaylee Foster is one of those kids that has started playing sports at a young age. Her earliest memory has to do with making sure the job was done.
“Probably one of the earliest memories I have of playing any sport would have to be a tee-ball team that my dad coached,” she said. “I mostly remember being really impatient in the outfield because there wasn’t a lot of action so anytime the ball was hit no matter where it went I ran and grabbed it and chased the batter until I caught up to them.”
Foster, who is a senior, attends Duncan High School. She plays volleyball, basketball, soccer, and also runs track.
As a high school student-athlete, there are numerous people that Kaylee could look up to as role models and to shape her life after. Out of all of them, she says that there are a couple of professional athletes that she looks up to the most.
“One of the main athletes I pay really close attention to would have to be Russell Westbrook,” she stated. “I just think that there are so many people that doubted him throughout his entire basketball career even now as he plays in the NBA. Every day he continues to prove them wrong and better himself on and off the court and I just think that it’s great for kids to have someone to look up to with those characteristics. Another athlete I love to watch is Cristiano Ronaldo because the intensity that he brings to the field is very unique and catches my attention. I love hearing the way that he talks about his love for soccer and how much he enjoys being able to play. Both of these athletes inspire me to better myself and continue to push myself no matter what I’m going through.”
Along with her sports, Kaylee is also a member of the student council, the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Against Drunk Driving, and the Gifted & Talented program.
