Duncan wrestler Eli Ramirez is hungry for more after a season of wrestling at the varsity level.
We caught up with Ramirez to learn more about this underclassman to watch just prior to the start of the state wrestling tournament at the Big House in Oklahoma City.
VYPE: Eli, you’re only a freshman. When did you start wrestling?
Ramirez: I have been wrestling for 11 years.
VYPE: You learned a lot this year from your teammates. What do they mean to you?
Ramirez: To me my teammates mean a lot. We all help to push each other to be the best that we can be, on and off the mat. I know that they are always there for me when I need it.
VYPE: What have you enjoyed most about being a student-athlete for Duncan?
Ramirez: What I love most about being a student-athlete at Duncan High School is the sense of pride. With being a student-athlete, I try to be a role model to the people around me.
VYPE: What does Eli enjoy doing in his free time?
Ramirez: In my free time I enjoy working out on my family farm with my great-grandpa. I love spending time with him. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family. Fishing and hunting are some other things I enjoy doing in my free time.
