For Duncan High School senior Collin Sherrill, soccer isn’t just a sport; it’s a reflection of teamwork, discipline, and pride. As a left center back for the Demons, Sherrill has built his success on consistency and dedication, both on and off the field.
Growing up in Duncan, Sherrill’s passion for soccer didn’t ignite until Coach Shaw introduced him to the game. That mentorship shaped his athletic journey and sparked a love that continues to drive him every season.
“Coach Shaw has had the biggest impact on my life because he’s the one who got me into soccer,” Sherrill said. “He’s pushed me to keep improving and taught me how much effort it really takes.”
Sherrill’s work ethic is evident in his daily routine. Hours spent at practice and extra sessions on the field have helped him grow into a cornerstone of Duncan’s defensive line. He credits his teammates for keeping him motivated, noting how their unity fuels his competitive edge.
“My teammates are my biggest motivators,” he said. “We all want each other to succeed, and that makes us better as a team.”
The highlight of his career so far came when he earned an all-district nomination, a moment that reminded him just how far his hard work had taken him. But even with personal recognition, Sherrill stays grounded, always focused on representing his community.
“It means a lot representing Duncan Soccer,” he said. “We take pride in showing what our town stands for every time we step onto the field.”
Balancing academics with athletics is no easy task, but Sherrill credits the support of understanding coaches and teachers for helping him stay on track. As graduation approaches, he continues to lead by example, showing younger players what dedication truly looks like.
“My dad is my biggest role model,” Sherrill said. “I see how hard he works every day, and that keeps me striving to do the same in everything I do.”
